America has quietly become a police state, a place where all you say and do is subject to active monitoring. On the surface this might seem a good thing because it might create a proactive or more timely intervention in crime. But the real issue is privacy. Do you want some law enforcement person or the government arbitrarily listening to what you say or watching what you do?

There has been a pattern of government using this spying for political purposes. Think when you are in the yard talking over the fence to a neighbor that your words may be relayed, especially if they disagree with your politics.

The spying is a metaphor; “When everyone is watched, everyone is an enemy”.
