Michael Steele was the perfect front man for the Republican Party in their attempt to jump on the change bandwagon and being more inclusive. Michael Steele had been the Republican Lieutenant Governor of the State of Maryland. He was outstanding in his role as Tonto to the Lone Ranger Governor.

The intent of having Michael Steele in such as high visibility position as Republican National Committee head, was to counterbalance President Obama’s message of change and inclusiveness.

Recently Michael Steele has been caught in a couple of faux pas. First, lambasting the strongest Conservative voice in the form of Rush Limbaugh. Second, by suggesting a woman has a right-to-choice.

The strategy of the Republican Party has changed. They have found that they can get away with not being joining with the Administration and Democratic Congress. In fact their adamant refusal to participate plays well with the party’s core constituencies. This means they no longer need Michael Steele. In fact, he is a liability with one of the Republican Party’s most fervent constituencies, white supremacists.

Michael Steel will step down shortly and be replaced by the likes of Ralph Reed. Ralph Reed is a very savvy political operative with links throughout government, industry and business. He is also a verified Conservation being the former head of the Christian Coalition.
