Cartoon 690: Metamorphosis

Reportedly business is starting to stabilize and emerge from the most devastating effects of the financial crisis. But at the other end of the spectrum the jobless rate, the number of foreclosures, the costs of basic commodities and healthcare obstacles are increasing. 

Business and industry is crafting strategies to make up for their profitability travails during the finance crisis. In some cases they have started charging more. But the new approach is to charge for things that were not charged for before. The most notable item is the baggage charge of airlines. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg approaching consumer finances. Things such as news content on the internet, is moving to a billing model by major conglomerates. Also things that were small and had no reasonable method of being billed are now involved in new technology that will make it possible. Conglomerates are moving toward taking everything out of the public domain (freely available).

It looks as if the consumer is in a situation with business and industry where “heads they win and tails you lose”. Have you ever witnessed what happens when a spinning top becomes unbalanced? The Republicans believe the unbalance will drive people to the party. But the collapse from the unbalance will likely result in a “tertium quid”
