Cartoon 698: Voice in the Wilderness I look at what is occurring. The financial crisis was merely a blip in the march of wealth for the richest 1 % of Americans. It was even reported that 1/3 of the amount of wages in America goes to the top executives of companies. Disparities abound. There is no national healthcare because too many people are making money with the existing system. They will do everything in their power to block change. Money has not been invested in public works and maintaining infra-structure in America. The money that might have been used was allocated as largess for individuals, business and industry. They control the processes of government. That is why politically it is easier to fund a sports stadium then to increase education spending. Unemployment is sky rocketing. People with jobs are facing wages and benefit cuts at the same time real inflation is rising. Those that sit at the top of the economic pyramid are happy. They live in a surreal belief that the system of things will continue. There is another group somewhere in between. They are stake holders in the current system of things. The change in the air is driving their acquisition of guns and liberal gun legislation. Throughout history few people were able to predict the moment of a revolution. What I see is the darkening sky with the clouds gathering and that eerie feeling before the first peal of deafening lightening. It will rattle the earth and precipitate a down pour. The most unimaginable occurs in a revolution. I tried to think what might be the most unimaginable thing to happen. I picked that the stanch “Red” States would emerge after a revolution as a socialist nation. |
