Cartoon 715: Elections At the end of the last decade neo-conservatives advanced a position. The position was to use our security communication capturing capability to get secret information about American business competitors. After all, “business is war”. In the start of this decade there were accusations that the American government was passing Airbus trade secrets to Boeing gathered in this manner. America has the most sophisticated and far reaching communications capturing and analysis capability in the world. The obvious use for that capability is to make a world more amenable to our liking. How better to accomplish that objective, then to make certain candidates are elected in key countries willing to bolster us. We must make absolutely certain we are never implicated if election information secrets are given to achieve desired election results. American spying is far reaching. Tom Clancy, a former intelligence and military operations thriller writer, referenced NSA “spyware” embedded in the Microsoft operating system in one of books. France and some of the other EU countries threatened to forbid Microsoft’s use by Ministries based on this fear. I wonder how international governments, politicians, and businesses protect themselves against spying today? They know spying technology is now ubiquitous and America has very big ears? |
