Cartoon 727: Crime

The most visual examples of corporate crime is the media industry and investment banking. Quickly following on their heels is the pharmaceutical and insurance industries. Their political influence has completely distorted the original intent of patents and copy rights. They have blocked regulations or enforcement. They have made whole government agencies an extension of themselves. They have put so many loop holes in their tax liabilities that they really pay little. They control the message presented by the media. They have gained free access to government research, which they turn around patent and license, even back to the government. They have liberal access to public resources such as minerals on public property.

They have complete control over the election process and the highest courts. The Obama election is a case in point. They panicked with Republicans shouting ideology and no more bailouts. They anointed the candidate that would provide bailouts. They will swing elections again in their favor now that normalcy for their profits has returned.

Culturally America is trapped in a philosophy of greed and business corruption. There is no desire for change.
