Cartoon 738: The Garden
There have been few examples of life discovered on earth that does not conform to a narrow band of existence. Even life found in deep sea volcanic geysers do not deviate to an extraordinary degree.
Purely from a mathematical point of view, this does not make sense. There are billions of galaxies and likely billions of planets. Material between them is transferred in galactic dust clouds and asteroids. Therefore there must be other types of life propagated everywhere. Yet all our discovered life is carbon based. A close cousin to the carbon atom is silicate. It would seem highly likely there must be silicate based life in the universe.
There are two possibilities why we cannot find other forms of life. The first is that we do not know what to look for. The second is that our celestial environment is a sequestered area where the type of life is highly regulated. But that concept might also imply a gardener to keep it that way.
