Cartoon 753: Sacrifice

There is an old Russian adage. If you are going to travel through the tundra [by sleigh] in winter, take a drunken friend along. If the wolves get too close, push him out. You sacrifice a friend, but you live to drink, eat and be merry another day.

Human sacrifice is a very old practice. It is used to ward off misfortune. Today the American psychology is one of upset and uncertainty. The faith in prosperity and preferential position in the scheme of things is in doubt. Why has god left us? The god[s] must be appeased to return things to the way they were. There must be blood, human sacrifice.

Capitalism in America is god. Its divine son is greed. Americans believe their prosperity derives from basking in capitalism’s unfettered glow. Since the Recession, the rays that shine have dimmed for 90% of the nation, while a privileged 10% are wearing tan lotions and sun glasses. The denial in the circumstances is failing for the masses. The light must be returned. Feed the beast to sedate its hunger.

The mob in government are looking for human sacrifices to offer up in the divine name of “capitalism”.
