Cartoon 773 Wonderland

Our American system of things is one best described by the Latin term fiat”, meaning "let it be done". In other words, the value is in the faith and not intrinsic. But systems depending purely on faith have an inherent weakness, losing belief. There is no fallback to sustain things. It is like the game “musical chairs” when the music stops or a ponsi scheme falling apart.

Nothing is more a “fait” then the American economic system. The financial crisis of 2008 evoked the image of the Dutch boy with his finger in the dike. The concept of the possibility of perpetual growth is a wishful fantasy. At some point entropy will eventually win. To most everything there is a life cycle. The cycle begins with a creation that progresses through expansion and finally to a demise.

This new year be careful how you hear. Especially, when it is the oration of capitalist evangelist.
