Cartoon 783: How?
Throughout fiction, particularly speculative fiction, there are mythologies built up around an individual or event. The mystique takes on a larger then life aura and is decidedly skewed from reality. Individuals become venerated as sages and saints. Reagan is an example. Reagan was not “worshiped” by Conservatives when he was President anymore than George Bush. He was merely the available tool to help push their agenda. Sometimes practicality caused him to deviate to their disgust. He was highly criticized during his presidency by some Conservatives. Yet today Reagan is held up as a perfect messiah by Conservatives with follicles absent.
An event is raised to this level imaginative fiction to have its reality conform to philosophy. We choose to see with our eyes shut. This is especially true when our conventional understanding runs in to a dramatic inconsistency. There is a discontinuity in our understanding of the development of man. Our favorite approach is to say there is a missing evolutionary link in mankind’s development. We have yet to absolutely pin point a natural biological link.
Perhaps there is none. Perhaps the sudden jump in human evolution is not a natural condition. May be man is a constructed creature. But if man is something crafted, then by whom, for what, and where are they now? You would think our current biological prowess would point this out at the DNA level. Perhaps it has. Perhaps there is a “gentlemen’s agreement” to keep it a taboo subject. It would also explain man’s destruction of nature. Being a constructed creature, he would lack the appropriate biological governance of synching with the environment.
The knowledge of manipulation would change human society.
