Cartoon 791: Mask of the Red Death

No where do I see our view of things changing as fast as that of nature. Science has gone off in so many directions in terms of understanding. It will take another generation to be able to accept the insights. The changes include most every aspect from biology and astronomy to physics. It has moved so far a field that the science has gone back to being philosophical, because quantitative proofs are beyond us. Our traditional orthodoxy, on which most of our religion and philosophy is based, will have to give way.

There are other things changing. Our preeminence is waning. It is not dramatic. It is a thousand little things, that taken as a whole, represent an avalanche. The changes result from “conservatism”, to hold on to or resurrect a comforting believed past. As with all such things, one person’s nirvana is another’s hell.

The surge of “conservatism” is shared throughout the West and the middle east.

The litmus test of change is how effective the “conservative” message resonates. The more strongly it is embraced, the more fearful the populous of occurring change. Look at the commonality of actions.

    • anti-immigration fever and closing borders
    • religiosity or philosophical purity
    • ethic dominance and supremacy

All over the world these initiatives have become like a tsunami.

We fear the dark [no clarity]. We fear the unknown [the path to take]. We fear change [where we will end up]. The human collective senses our reality is changing. We are pulling up the blanket over our heads.

But this change of awareness will not stop. It will arrive. It cannot be barred.
