Cartoon 824: The Godfather

I was really disappointed in “The Godfather: Part III”. The story line made Michael Coleone’s heir to the godfather throne a street thug. The story line should have been more inline with current times.

I believe the heir to the godfather throne would be someone ivy league with an MBA from one of the prestigious business schools, such as Harvard, Stanford or Wharton. This would be the price of entry to “real” money and managing the inherence. The clan would know the only one they can trust is family. They would make certain they had their own crop of very educated financially astute family members.

I imagine the heir would be someone smooth and sleek. Someone able to move in the upper international social and political ranks with ease. Over time the family holdings would have moved out of tangibles into equity. Eventually the holdings would be an exclusive hedge fund. The godfather would be the one anointed to manage this wealth. That is not to say the new godfather would not be steeped in the traditional things, such as extortion and murder. The difference is the focus and scale. It is the very rich and powerful, international banking, governments and multi-national corporations.
