We have such short memories and the media guarantees it. Few remember that at the very end of the 1990s, and into the opening months of 2000, the nightly news was dominated with images of Israeli actions. One image went viral showing an Israeli soldier killing a young unarmed boy. The mood in America was a sharp change in its view of Israel in America. Israel had taken on the mantle of Apartheid South Africa in the American mindset.

Suddenly there was 911 and all that changed. Americans viewed everyone else in the Middle East as a potential enemy, largely delineated by race and religion. We adopted the Israeli draconian military and domestic approaches in the Middle East. We viewed Israel as someone that does it right [The concept of our southern border fence is modeled after Israel’s border fence].

America in recent times has been an absolute protector of Israel. It blocks United Nations resolution on its actions and refused to allow an international peace keeping force in 2000.

Our involvement and wars in the Middle East has created a clear divergence in polities between America and Israel in the Middle East. America wants stability to further things in its interests. The Right wing hawkish Israeli government wants upset, it keeps them in power. Their expanding settlements on Palestinian land and apartheid actions easily creates angst.

Israel has turned a tin ear to American desires. Its Allies in America are Jewish American billionaires. Several are among the ten wealthiest people in America. They pull the American political strings to block actions designed to reign in Israel.

There is one potential action that will completely change the Middle East calculus. It is removing the blockade around Iran. The result would be more worthy competition for Israel in control of the Middle East. It will force Israel to pivot back to American support and polities. The Jewish American billionaires and their acolytes are doing everything to block this from happening.
