We take things for granted. We never stop to evaluate the relevance. It is conventional wisdom. Religion is no exception. Today wealth has been anointed divinity. All sorts of actions are based on that premise. They allude to it being sanctioned by god. But the actions are not consistent with the authoritative text. The words of the text have been perverted. In fact stating the words of the text places you diametrically opposed to the prophets of today’s religious orthodoxy and the politicians that claim to be apostles. They take a single favored element and make it a whole theology, marginalizing or ignoring the rest.

By today’s standards the words and message of the doctrine is liberal and socialist. No wonder they are not willing to acknowledge the whole loaf.
