Cartoon 866: The Difference
In many countries the licensed violence, that sanctioned by the government, is abhorrent. A license does not guarantee justice. Too often the institutions of government are the purveyors of rampant injustice.
What is upsetting in America is the attention being drawn to sanctioned violence by police and lack of justice. The American culture is, “the ends justify the means”. Minorities have been vilified in the media for decades. Therefore the perspective is they are getting what they deserve. That perspective precludes justice. We have seen the enemy and it is them. The belief is the minorities within this nation disrupts the desired system of things.
There is an axiom, “where there is injustice for one, ultimately there is injustice for all”. Each revelation of our actions, from those of Snowden to torture, tarnish the American “brand”. Our sins are displayed for the world to see.
