To adequately participate in America as a race or ethnic group, you must be identified with wealth. Second you must vote as a cohesive block. If you meet the criteria the Republicans will rush to embrace you. Even race or color is an issue they can surmount.

Take the case of American Jews. Up until the 1970s people of the Jewish faith were considered a race. They seemed to have a commonality of recognizable features. This was really due to the prohibition of marrying outside the faith which limited diversity. Statements were made, “...I could look at her and tell she was a Jew”.

A very public move was orchestrated to dissuade Americans viewing Jews as a race. It coincided with their rising wealth and becoming a significant voting block. Today it would be more difficult to look at someone and determine Jewish ancestry. The edict of not marrying outside the faith has been largely ignored.

Despite all the ‘Trumpism’ and antagonism toward Hispanics, they are rising in wealth as a group in America. It is only a matter of time before they reach some magical financial mark and the Republicans embrace them. Money dictates politics in America.

Perhaps one day American Blacks will achieve wealth and cohesion. One can only hope.
