Maybe it is a male thing. Males feel they should do the driving and not the female. Driving is a masculine enterprise. From the male perspective female driving just does not suit. They drive too fast, too slow, are reckless, are distracted, or are direction challenged. From a woman’s perspective it is another case like the television remote control.

As time passes and old age takes hold, the body deteriorates. The deterioration is different between a male and female. Older men seem to lack the vitality of many older women. In my neighborhood I have watched senior woman cut their grass and shovel snow though money is not an issue (not Black women). Aliments of the male no longer allow them to participate in these activities. The women seem to enjoy the physical activity and the male chagrin of them doing it.

Look at the cars on the road. Notice how often with senior citizen drivers it is the woman doing the driving and the male the passenger. Notice she has a smile on her face.
