Cartoon 913: Common sense

An understanding derived from our basic senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch is often referred to as ‘common sense’. It is logic based on what we perceive. There is a fallacy in common sense. The fallacy is in the interpretation of what we perceive and building this into an immutable dogmatic reference. It is often skewed by a parochial myopic cultural bias.

What we learn through common sense requires modification by experience and training. This helps us achieve a better perspective leading to better outcomes.

Would you want someone who has never driven or knows the rules of the road to drive you in a car on to a crowded multilane highway inter-exchange? They assert adamantly driving is like walking and what more do they need to know? Would you get in?

Do you want them running government?
